High School Construction Project Causes One Fatality

In November of 2024, numerous sources reported a construction accident at a school. This accident left one worker dead and another injured. The details of this incident are still quite unclear, although it may have involved the construction of bleachers in the high school gym.

One student explained that the project involved a renovation of the gym and that the workers were in the process of adding new bleachers. This student also noted that the workers had already constructed new flooring in the gym, along with new air conditioners.

Based on this information, it is fair to say that the injuries may have been caused by some kind of collapse. Bleachers can be quite high, and their construction is similar to scaffolding. The bleachers may have collapsed partway through the construction project, burying the workers underneath and causing serious crush injuries.

What are My Options if My Husband Died in a Construction Accident?

If you lost a loved one in a California construction accident, you may have various options as you seek compensation. Perhaps the most obvious source of financial security is workers’ compensation. Spouses and other family members of deceased workers can pursue this form of compensation to cover funeral expenses, lost future income, and unpaid medical bills.

That being said, it may also be possible to file a personal injury lawsuit after a construction accident. This could provide more compensation, and you may sue a third party responsible for causing the accident. Alternatively, you could potentially sue the direct employer for gross, reckless negligence. To learn more about the potential for a lawsuit, be sure to speak with a lawyer.
